| What is FMCA Chapter: Habitat for Humanity®? FMCA Chapter: Habitat for Humanity members support the mission of Habitat for Humanity International and volunteer their time, talents, labor and enthusiasm to build affordable housing, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout North America. The Chapter has a unique partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. Working in conjunction with the RV Care-A-Vanner program at Habitat for Humanity headquarters in Americus, GA, member-only builds are organized to coincide with International Conventions and Area Rallies. The Chapter has a VP Build Coordinator who schedules and organizes builds. The details of each build are then announced in our quarterly newsletter, On The Road Again, posted to our web site, www.fmca-hfh.com, and sometimes sent in email blasts, all of which will be soliciting team leaders and team volunteers. Chapter builds usually require a commitment of two weeks and usually seven hours per day. We can arrive at any stage of the project, from framing to painting to landscaping, so the opportunities are varied. Weekends are free to explore the area in and around the build location. Construction experience is not necessary, there is work for everyone, so do not hesitate if you have never built. Our builds are also excellent places to learn building techniques from experienced builders and construction supervisors. So come join us: The work is enjoyable, the friendships made are wonderful, and the rewards are out of this world. |
