Membership report submitted by Bill McLaughlin: Since March, 2004 welcome letters have been sent to all new members. Plus by using the FMCA program which encourages new FMCA members to join chapters, Habitat Chapter brochures and letters have been sent. Bill can provide brochures to members and asks that all build leaders supply their team members with Chapter brochures and newsletters.

National Director’s Report: Lynn Laymon attended the Governing Board meeting and reported the results of the national officer election: R.G. Wilson, President, Don Moore, Senior VP, Jim Kern, Treasurer and Ginger Painter, Secretary. If an FMCA member pays dues 5 years in advance but has to drop out before that expires, a refund will be granted. Governing Board members will vote by mail in October on several issues, including changing the terms and term limits for national officers. Effective January 1, 2005 the accidental deductible and coinsurance plan will be discontinued as a member benefit.

Lynn represented the Habitat Chapter at the International Area meeting. The incumbent officers up for reelection were retained.

Communications VP Report: Jewel Hebert reminded members to notify the Secretary of address changes. Newsletters are available on the Chapter Web site. Articles for the winter newsletter are due January 7, 2005.

Build Coordinator’s Report: John Lee reviewed the previously listed 2005 builds: Redlands, CA, Ocala and Highlands County, FL. He reported that the Chapter has added a third February build – Dade City, FL. from Feb. 21-March 5, led by Barri and Rosemary Amor. It is a March Gladness build in partnership with college youth. Two builds follow the Perry convention: LaGrange, GA and Warner-Robbins, GA. In conjunction with the 2005 Jimmy Carter Work Project, the FMCA funded build in Dowagiac, MI will have 2 consecutive 2-week build teams with dedication June 24. The two builds after the Minot, ND convention are in Minot and in Bismarck. Another build may occur in the East in the fall.

Items from Albuquerque:

1. The Chapter had approved working on a particular house in the Global Village and Discovery Center (GVDC) in Americus, GA, but no new houses will be started there due to budgetary constraints. Chapter members are welcome to work on the houses in progress between now and December 2004. Call Jackie Merriman at 1-800-Habitat, ext. 2655 to set that up.
