What is Mary's Choice?

Mary's Choice is a home and Helping Hand Program for young women located outside Bailey, Colorado. Surrounded by the serenity of the Rocky Mountains, Mary's Choice provides young women the opportunity to reflect and learn in a loving, structured home for the duration of their pregnancies with ongoing support. Mary's Choice was founded to give pregnant young women an alternative to abortion.

From Mary Beth:

...an e- mail we received......

Dear Mary's Choice,

Please send me any information you have about abortions for teens. I'm 14, got pregnant by being raped. My parents don't know yet, and I don't want them to. Thanks!

Dear Michelle,
I wish I had a simple answer for you - I don't. There are so many things I want to tell you. I am going to tell you my story. Twenty-years ago, I was told I couldn't have any more children I would have done anything to have had a little girl So my husband and I decided to adopt. We could give an unwanted child a home with a nice big back yard. We would love her so much. My dream was to make her clothes and dress her up.... Every adoption agency we called would not take applications from families that already had more than 2 children.....we had 3 little boys. Because women were aborting their babies there were not enough babies available. I could not imagine how anyone could kill an un-born baby. No matter how it got inside of you, it is a baby, Michelle. Every day I hear from people, not as fortunate as I; they don't have any children and they want to adopt desperately. You are 14 years old, and I can't imagine how frightened you must feel. Michelle, you have the opportunity to give that baby life. You have your whole life ahead of you if the baby is allowed to live. Its your choice. Chooses life; your mother did. I will help you any way I can. I am praying for you and your baby.

Love, Mary Beth

It is so hard to know how to answer! Often, I just cry and pray, hoping to touch a heart making a difference through the Holy Spirit!

Every child deserves a life!

These are some women helped in the last week.

** 17 yr. old single in school, parents want her to abort; needed crib and baby supplies

** Woman expecting 8th child, husband lost job, needed all baby items

** Woman who's husband is incarcerated, needed everything for baby and food for herself

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Mary's choice is long distance from Bailey to Denver and the surrounding areas. The girls are unable to make any phone calls to their family and friends without a prepaid long-distance phone card.

A Prepaid phone card for these young women would be a wonderful donation so that they can keep in touch with those people they love and need.

 From one of the Girls...

HI. I'm one of the girls from Mary's Choice and I'm writing you to tell you what kind of place Mary's Choice is and what I'm doing here. Well, Mary's Choice is a home for pregnant teens. And I'm here because I'am a pregnant teen who needs help.

The help I get from Mary's Choice is parenting classes, birth classes and counseling. Since I've been at Mary's choice. I feel this is a place where I can get my feet back on the ground and to make the right choices so I don't get pregnant again until I'm married and settled down. Right now, being a pregnant teen is not easy because I don't get to see, call, hug, or kiss my mom like I would like to and I don't get to see or talk to any of may friends like I would like to either.

Sometimes, I wish I was still with my mom but I also think that Mary's Choice is a good place for me to figure out what is going on in my life and how different it will be when my baby gets here.

Sincerely,
One of the Girls

Honor Roll
This month, Skip Munger, Grand Knight Our Lady of Loreto Council#1336, set up a camp, work and paint detail. There were 30 people that came for two days! The men painted, the women cleaned. The men chopped wood; the women cleaned. The men built shelves; the women cleaned. The children cleaned also. We really needed to clean. I wanted to list all the people that have done so much work up here. I am afraid I might leave out a name. I decided I would just call you the ANGELS FROM OUR LADY OF LORETO. May God richly bless you for your kindnesses!

DID YOU KNOW?

1) The United States surpass all other Western nations in the number of abortions per 1,000 women of child-bearing age?

2) Forty-five percent of minors who obtain an abortion do so without parental knowledge?

3) Three-out-of-four women having an abortion say a child would interfere with work, school, or other responsibilities?

11,000 added deaths?

In the United States, approximately 800,000 women abort their first pregnancies each year. Of these, 11 percent or 88,000, would have developed breast cancer. But because of more risk after abortion, the number of cancer cases will increase approx. 13,000 ! - and cancer deaths will increase by 44 percent.
We are grateful for all donations and prayers for Mary's Choice.
